Palestinian activist shares harrowing experience of detention by Israeli forces
Aida Camp, West Bank - Recent
Storyline:
Munther Amira, known across Palestine for his non-violent activism against the Israeli occupation, recently shared the humiliating and painful experience of being arbitrarily detained by Israeli forces at his home in Bethlehem, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, last year.
He was taken into custody on December 18, 2023, because the Israeli forces accused him of publishing posts inciting violence on Facebook.
That's when his nightmares began, he told China Global Television Network (CGTN) in an interview.
After serving two and a half months in the Israeli prison, he was released as the prosecution failed to offer any credible evidence to charge him.

"I remember the day the Israeli occupying forces broke in and destroyed our home. They stormed into my mother's house. They beat up my brother and dragged him to our house. He was beaten unconscious. Then they attacked us as well. They beat me up in front of my daughter. My son was wearing a shirt with a map of Palestine on it. They even slashed his shirt with a knife. There was nothing I could do. That's when my nightmares began."
