Savannah, GA, USA - May 23, 2024

Residents of a neighborhood near Savannah, Georgia, received an unexpected visitor on Thursday, May 23, as police were called to wrangle a wandering alligator that had made its way into the area.

In a scene reminiscent of a Hollywood movie, officers from the Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) were captured on footage securing and removing the reptile from a resident's driveway in Georgetown. The video, released by CCPD, showcases the careful handling of the alligator as officers take precautionary measures to ensure the safety of both the animal and the community.

With the alligator's mouth securely taped shut, officers transported the creature in the back seat of a police cruiser. According to CCPD, the alligator was released back into its natural habitat shortly after being apprehended, marking the swift resolution of the unusual encounter.
