STORYLINE:

Spanish customers will be able to learn more about Chinese car brands through a new collaboration between two major automobile dealers associations from China and Spain.

The collaboration, which was announced in April, is a partnership between the Federation of Automotive Dealers Associations (Faconauto) and the China Automobile Dealers Association.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Spanish): MARTA BLAZQUEZ, Head of the Federation of Automotive Dealers Associations (Faconauto)
"Through Faconauto and this agreement, our dealers can get closer to these (Chinese) brands and interact with them. Everything that deepens mutual knowledge and encourages dialogue between China and Spain is included in the agreement. It also promotes the participation of dealers from both countries in the trade events held in China and Spain. At the auto show in Beijing, we met Chinese manufacturers who are building vehicles that are made with fantastic innovation and technology of the highest level, but also with the level of safety that Europe demands."

Blazquez also pointed out that Chinese car brands have a unique opportunity because of Europe's "ambitious" goal to eradicate vehicles that run on fossil fuels. As Chinese electric vehicles continue to increase in popularity in countries like Spain, Faconauto hopes that more Chinese automakers will begin producing vehicles in Europe.

SOUNDBITE 2 (Spanish): MARTA BLAZQUEZ, Head of the Federation of Automotive Dealers Associations (Faconauto)
"China has an opportunity to bring products to Europe that have an extraordinary price-quality relationship and that are made according to the high demands of European consumers. This is in China's interest and in our interest as dealers. In 2035, Europe will ban the sale of combustion engine cars and I think that China has prepared very well for this with a clear strategy to offer an alternative that serves Europe's environmental needs. What we want to see is what's starting to happen: for Chinese brands to build vehicles in Europe. The recent presentation of (China's) Chery and (Spain's) Ebro shows that Chinese companies are now looking to manufacture their vehicles here, and for us that's great news."
