Bears stand upright while asking for food from zoo visitors in Beijing
Bears were seen standing upright like humans while asking for food from visitors at a zoo in China.
Footage shows the animals balancing on their two hind limbs while raising their upper limbs like they were waving to people at the Beijing Wildlife Park on May 25.
When a snack has been thrown, they follow the directions and sniff on the ground to eat it.
Bears' standing is enabled by their flexible ankle joints, large muscles, and bottom-heavy weight distribution, which helps them balance. However, they cannot run or move quickly while upright, as standing allows them to use their full height and front paws.
