Baltimore, MD, USA - May 26, 2024

Unified Command, comprising various agencies, persists in its efforts to fully reinstate Baltimore's federal channel following the collapse incident. Recent aerial footage, sourced from the Maryland State Police Aviation Command, showcases the notable progress achieved thus far. The footage highlights the Francis Scott Key Bridge and the diminishing presence of steel debris within Baltimore's Fort McHenry Federal Channel.

On May 20, Unified Command successfully cleared a significant 400-foot-wide section of the federal channel, thereby enabling deep-draft commercial vessels to navigate the Port of Baltimore unimpeded by the wreckage. The ongoing operations involve the meticulous removal of debris from the Patapsco River bed. Projections indicate that the Fort McHenry Federal Channel will be fully restored to its original dimensions a width of 700 feet and a depth of 50 feet - by the targeted timeframe of June 8-10.
