Tortosa, Tarragona, Spain - May 28, 2024

Emergency crews responded early this morning to a forest fire that erupted in the wooded areas and barren fields of the Raco de l'Ermita ravine at Coll de l'Alba, Tortosa. The fire was reported at 10:15 a.m. local time on May 28, prompting swift action from firefighting teams.

The firefighting efforts involved a significant response, with 14 firefighting teams and four helicopters deployed, including two bombers and two Avas.

Efforts were concentrated on the right flank of the fire, which posed challenges due to its remote location deep within the ravine of Raco de l'Ermita.

As a preventive measure, authorities requested the suspension of wind turbines in the area, and personnel from the wind farm were evacuated. Fortunately, there have been no reports of the fire threatening any residential areas.

Throughout the morning, emergency crews worked tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent further damage to the surrounding area. The situation was closely monitored as firefighting efforts continued throughout the day.
