Waves 8 meters high hit the shoreline of Padang City, hundreds of protective trees fell and tourist huts and residents' houses were damaged
Extreme weather, waves 8 meters high hit the shoreline of Padang, Wednesday (29 May 2024).
Due to the high waves, the shoreline of Padang shifted approximately 50 meters from before. Hundreds of protective trees along the Padang coast were seen uprooted by the waves.
Apart from that, hundreds of tourist huts and 2 residents' houses were seriously damaged. one head of the family is currently declared to have evacuated to a safe place.
Padang city resident, Yul said "coastal erosion has a negative impact on the Padang Beach community, Pasia Jambak, because it can threaten the lives and economy of residents."
"Residents ask the relevant parties to build wave breakers as soon as possible,".
