50p released to commemorate 80th anniversary of D-Day Landings
An official 50p featuring King Charles III was released earlier this month. This is to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings of Normandy 6th June 1944. The reverse design by David Lawrence shows solidiers disembarking landing craft and bombers flying overhead. The obverse shows an effigy of King Charles III by Martin Jennings. The 7 sided coin was released by the Royal Mint on the 20th May ahead of the D-Day celebrations.
