"We are keen on the lives of innocent civilians. We are also keen on calm and resolving all standing issues through dialogue."
The UN was consulting with all parties to bring viewpoints closer and reach a peaceful solution, Lamamra said.
He said his visit to Sudan aimed to get acquainted with the facts of the situations on the ground and hold consultations with the officials.
He said that the UN was seeking to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in El Fasher, the capital city of North Darfur State, which has been witnessing deadly clashes between the SAF and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to the statement.
"The UN encourages negotiations and hopes they will succeed," said Lamamra, expressing hope that all regional and international partners would positively contribute to ensuring a ceasefire and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need.
