Pomona PD and LACoFD responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of South Towne Avenue and East Lexington Avenue. Once officers and firefighters arrived on scene, they located a pedestrian down in lanes next to a vehicle. Unknown at this time how many pedestrians were struck. Firefighters and paramedics pronounced one person deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was talking to officers. Pomona PD had north and southbound lanes of S. Towne Avenue closed as they investigate the fatal crash.

On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at approximately 8:02 PM:

Pomona Police officers responded to the area of Towne Ave and Lexington Ave regarding a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision. Responding officers arrived on scene and located two pedestrians laying in the roadway of Towne Avenue suffering from severe injuries. The female adult was treated on scene and transported to a local hospital. First responders performed lifesaving measures on the female child; however, the child succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the involved vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
