STORYLINE:

Former Brazilian footballer Kaka paid a visit on Monday to the Village Super League in Rongjiang County in China's Guizhou Province.

In 2023, the Village Super League (VSL), also dubbed "Cun Chao," featuring 20 teams, became a hit in China and the world for its popularity, down-to-earth nature and festive atmosphere.
   
During his visit, Kaka received a warm welcome and gifts such as a batik scarf and a batik jacket, all handmade by local Miao people.

"It was a very good surprise to come here and receive this warm welcome, all the caring and love from the people. So for me, it was a great experience to know a different city here in China, be with these people, and enjoy this time together."

During his stay in Rongjiang, Kaka also watched a match featuring students from elementary schools in the county.

"I think it's really important to promote football within the young generation. In Brazil, we grew up playing football, playing on the beach, playing with friends, playing at home. So football is part of our culture. What I saw today here, it's quite the same, seeing that those girls play football and try to chase their dreams. I think it's amazing."

Marco Segatto, a student from Italy, arrived in Guizhou in March to study.

"I'm here for Kaka, because Kaka was playing in AC Milan and it was so close to my house. I grew up with all my classmates in the school wearing the Kaka jersey. I think it's very good because the stadium is amazing. Also, if you play, you look at the mountains and everything around. It was very good."
