Weather Modification Technique (TMC) for rainforest distribution from disaster-affected areas in West Sumatra.
A number of parties from Smart Aviation began loading sodium chloride into the Cessna Grand Caravan 208 C aircraft.
The plane, which flew through Minangkabau International Airport, carried out a mission to carry out weather modification in West Sumatra airspace.
At least 27 tons of sodium chloride have been distributed in the skies of West Sumatra since this weather modification operation was carried out on May 15, 2024.
This operation was carried out to prevent worsening of the weather during the emergency response period after flash floods and lava floods hit the province, triggered by high-intensity rain that occurred on Saturday, May 11.
Later, the sodium chloride that is sown will trigger an increase in rain clouds in the area where it is spread.

"Technically, we sow this salt, where we look at the direction of the wind and also based on its speed and direction, and we start to sow it into the clouds that we have identified first. The effect on the sown clouds will speed up the growth process. "The clouds are like the clouds that we sow, namely cumulonimbus clouds, which have the potential to cause rain, while clouds that are not cumulonimbus clouds cannot do this."
Weather Modification Technology, or TMC, has proven effective in helping control the weather, but this technology still has several limitations.
One of them is the level of accuracy, which is influenced by various factors such as atmospheric conditions and cloud types.
TMC's operations in West Sumatra are a clear example of how technology can be used to help with disaster management.
With a better understanding of how the TMC works, it is hoped that the community will be more accepting and supportive of the government's disaster management efforts.
