Two-storey building collapses near primary school, leaving 5 trapped in China
A two-story commercial building collapsed near a primary school, causing five people to be trapped in southern China.
The dramatic CCTV was filmed in Longzhou County in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on May 31.
Fire rescue personnel were promptly dispatched to the scene, with emergency services, police, and health departments arriving to coordinate the response.
Preliminary reports confirm that five individuals are trapped in the rubble. So far, two people have been rescued and transported to the hospital.
A nearby shop owner described the collapse, noting that the ground floor housed a stationery store and a convenience store. The area has been cordoned off by authorities. The incident occurred just as the nearby primary school had let out for the day.
The owner of the convenience store on the building's ground floor recounted the harrowing moment, saying that their grandmother and them were sitting outside the store when suddenly the building collapsed. The ceiling fell right down. Fortunately, they escaped in time and were unharmed.
Rescue operations continue as authorities work diligently to locate and assist those still trapped.
