Father violently slaps boy in China after mistakenly believing own child is bullied
A father violently slapped a boy after mistakenly believing his child was bullied in eastern China.
CCTV footage filmed in Taizhou City in Zhejiang Province on May 29, shows a man dining with his child, watching as his son playfully tussled with another boy, wielding a toy sword.
As the playful fight escalated, the man's son struck the other boy twice on the head with the toy, prompting the second boy to raise his hand defensively.
Mistaking this for aggression, the father charged over, snatched the toy from the child, and slapped him to the ground. The enraged man then drew his belt, threatening further harm, but was stopped by staff and another diner who rushed to the scene.
Officers responded promptly, taking both parties to the station. It was revealed that the two children were classmates, and the altercation arose from a misunderstanding.
That night, the parents reached a voluntary settlement, reportedly agreeing on a compensation of 13,000 yuan (£1,438).
The video was provided by local media with permission.
