The Park Forest Police Department has launched an investigation into an unusual altercation involving a police officer and an unexpected assailant – a dragonfly. The incident, classified as Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer, transpired on May 27 around 7:00 pm in the vicinity of the 3000 block of Western Avenue.

Reports indicate that the dragonfly managed to infiltrate the officer's attire, taking refuge within his shirt collar. Despite repeated attempts to coax the intruder out, the resilient insect refused to budge, ultimately escalating the encounter by emitting a loud scream directly into the officer's ear.

The perpetrator, identified as possessing a stout body, broad head, clear-membraned wings, and large compound eyes, left the officer startled and bewildered. The entire incident was captured on the officer's body-worn camera, with footage showcasing the unexpected ordeal.
