Gaza Strip, Palestine - May 31, 2024

A total of 20 humanitarian agencies, including Oxfam and Doctors of the World, warned on Tuesday that temporary solutions adopted to increase the flow of humanitarian aid into the Strip, such as the construction of the floating dock on the Gaza coast by the United States and the opening of new crossing points "have had little impact".

"Systematic obstruction at Israeli-controlled crossing points, intensified hostilities and prolonged telecommunications blackouts have reduced the volume of aid entering Gaza, including food, fuel and medical supplies, to one of the lowest levels seen in the past seven months," they said in a statement.

The latest figures provided by the Israeli army indicate that only about 127 trucks, with a total of 1,806 pallets, entered the Strip during the first week of operation of the floating dock.

Since the arrival of troops at Rafah West in the south of the Strip more than 20 days ago, Israel has kept closed its crossing, which in previous months had been crucial for the entry of humanitarian aid, as well as the gateway for the chronically ill and wounded to be treated outside Gaza.
