In an emotional scene in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, a baby elephant's steadfast care helped its ailing mother recover. The female elephant, found unconscious due to poor health in the Marudhamalai foothills, was discovered by forest department patrols along with her calf, who refused to leave her side.

Coimbatore forestry staff, led by District Forest Officer Jeyaraj, and veterinarians, including Dr. Sukumar, swiftly treated the elephant with fluids and nutrients. The calf, distressed but devoted, stayed close throughout the treatment. Over two days, doctors administered 30 bottles of fluids and anti-nutrients, ultimately deciding to use a crane to help the mother elephant stand.

Tamil Nadu Forest Department Chief Secretary Supriya Sahu praised the team on social media for their round-the-clock efforts. The heartwarming outcome saw the mother elephant standing and her calf nursing contentedly. The forest department continues to monitor the mother’s health closely.
