New Measurement Train checking the track in the South West between Reading & Cornwall
Video of the New Measurement Train often called "the flying banana" due to its overall yelllow paint livery. Video was captured of the train checkking the track at Hayle and Gwinear in Cornwall. The train is a converted Intercity High Speed Train (HST) operated by Network Rail. The train can measure and record track defects at speeds of up to 125mph, covering up to 115,000 miles a year. All this technology keeps the railways safe, spotting defects enabling preventative maintenance to be carried out.
