The first footage shows of the eruption were observed at 1:04 PM Western Indonesian Time on Thursday (5/30/2024), sending a plume of volcanic ash 2,000 meters into the sky.

The previous eruption occurred in the darkness at 3:51 AM on Sunday (5/26/2024), spewing glowing lava hundreds of meters high, followed by a burst of volcanic ash.

Mount Marapi erupts twice in a week, sending shockwaves through Indonesia. Located in West Sumatra province has a significant increase in volcanic activity.

These eruptions have raised concerns among local residents who live near the active volcano. Authorities have raised the alert status of Mount Marapi to Alert (Level III), and the danger zone has been expanded to 4,5 kilometers from the crater.
