Birmingham’s A38M Aston Expressway which connects the city to the M6 North and South at Spaghetti Junction was closed on Sunday (June 2nd) morning after a serious 3-vehicle collision.

The crash happened close to the famous road network, closing all 7 lanes in and out of the city.

The motorway does not have a central reservation barrier and usually has a closed lane to protect drivers from accidents.

Two of the vehicles involved had the rear of the chassis completely crumpled in.

Serious Collision Investigators were on scene recording the incident.

West Midlands Police released the following comment on X, formerly Twitter: ‘The A38 into and out of the city remains closed due to a serious collision.

‘The closure is likely to remain in place for most of the morning.

'Please find an alternative route.

'Thank you for your patience.’

Central Motorway Police Group also sent this message out: ‘A38M Aston Expressway is currently closed both in bound and outbound from the M6 to Lancaster Circus due to a serious RTC.

‘Please use alternative routes.

‘The road is likely to be closed for several hours.’
