Claudia Sheinbaum is set to become Mexico's first female president according to a quick count.

The closing of the presidential campaign of the candidate, Claudia Scheinbaum, took place on Wednesday from the Plaza del Zocalo in Mexico City (capital), with a massive rally.

During her speech to the Mexican people, the candidate for the Morena party described what the current president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has done in the Aztec country as an achievement, but stressed that there are still things to be done.

"The foundations and the first floor have been laid, but the consolidation and progress of this real change that continues to be the desire of the people of Mexico is still lacking. That is why I have called to build together and together the first floor of the fourth transformation of Mexico's public life," he stressed.

In closing her electoral campaign in the state of Nueva Leon, candidate Xochitl Galvez sought to convince that she has a chance of winning.

In front of those attending her last election rally, the opposition candidate assured that she would be the "bravest" president to confront the wave of violence in the country.

The presidential elections in Mexico will take place on Sunday 2 June. On this occasion Claudia Schainbaum is one of the favourites according to the polls.
