Edina, MN, USA - May 30, 2024

Three individuals are in custody after allegedly stealing a vehicle in Edina and leading law enforcement on a perilous pursuit that concluded in St. Paul.

Dashcam footage captured the dramatic chase along University Avenue, where the suspects recklessly navigated through traffic, striking raised curbs, and even driving onto light rail tracks before proceeding in the wrong direction.

The pursuit unfolded after authorities received reports of a stolen Volkswagen Atlas at approximately 7:30 a.m., with concerns raised about the suspects potentially being armed. Minnesota State Patrol cameras spotted the stolen vehicle near Highway 280, prompting a coordinated response to apprehend the suspects.

As the chase intensified, deputies tracked the stolen SUV to the intersection of Thomas Avenue West and Victoria Street South, initiating a pursuit. Stop sticks were deployed on Thomas Avenue, deflating two tires and impeding the vehicle's progress. Despite the setback, the suspects persisted at high speeds until abandoning the vehicle near Highway 280.

While one minor suspect was swiftly apprehended, two others sought refuge in the Court International Building on University Avenue West. Law enforcement later located and arrested them hiding in a fourth-floor bathroom, recovering tools believed to have been used in the vehicle theft.

The search continues for a fourth suspect, described as armed and still at large in the neighborhood. The apprehended individuals, including two minors and one adult, possess extensive criminal histories, with charges ranging from carjacking to armed robbery and auto thefts. Additionally, two suspects have active warrants for aggravated robbery.
