On the evening of June 1, heavy rainfall hit Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, causing a pond in Dongsi Township to overflow, with water levels rising to the same height as the road. As a car attempted to pass through, the driver mistakenly took the water surface for the road and drove into the pond.

Surveillance footage shows the passengers making a dramatic escape just before the car fully submerged. Witnesses reported that the driver was from a nearby village and unfamiliar with the road conditions, which, combined with the rain, led to the accident. All three individuals in the car managed to escape safely, and no injuries were reported.
