Kinney County, TX, USA - May 21, 2024

On May 21st, an incident unfolded on US-277 in Kinney County, Texas, as a driver suspected of smuggling immigrants made a daring escape, leaving his passengers behind.

A DPS Trooper pulled over a Ford F-250, initiating a routine traffic stop. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when the driver, identified as Kelvin Conde, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, along with five additional passengers, bolted from the vehicle into the nearby brush.

With the assistance of Border Patrol agents, Conde and three of the passengers, all from Mexico, were later apprehended and taken into custody.

Conde now faces charges of smuggling of persons and evading arrest. Meanwhile, the three Mexican nationals have been referred to Border Patrol for further processing. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges and efforts to combat illegal immigration along the border.
