This is the heartwarming moment locals worked together to rescue a father and son who fell into a sewer in China.

The group of men spotted the man and his son stuck inside the sewage-filled manhole in Wuhan, Hubei, on May 25.

Footage shows the pair inside the deep hole, floating, while the rescuers shone flashlights and threw down a rope for the dad to grab onto.

The young boy can be seen hugging his father, clinging onto him so he wound not drown.

The kind men tried to pull the two up by lowering a long stick into the sewer.

Fortunately, they successfully retrieved the victims from the hole.

The filmer said: 'The father's two children were playing on the street and unintentionally stepped on a manhole cover, causing the younger child to fall in.'

According to local reports, no one was hurt in the incident.
