Russian troops 'storm Ukrainian stronghold' in Chasov Yar area
Russia has claimed that its troops stormed a Ukrainian stronghold in the Chasov Yar area of the battlefield.
The POV-style footage purports to show Russian forces engaging in urban warfare with unseen Ukrainian forces as they force their way into a building.
The images show one Russian soldier tossing a grenade and providing cover fire for a colleague as they storm the building.
The images were obtained from the Russian Minister of Defence (MoD) on Monday, June 3, along with a statement claiming: 'Airborne troops stormed a UkrainianArmed Forces stronghold in the Chasov Yar area.'
In the Donetsk direction, in the area of the settlement of Chasov Yar, units of the Kostroma GuardsParachute Regiment of the Ivanovo Guards Airborne Forces, with the support of aviation and artillery, improved the situation along the front line and stormed a large stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
'During reconnaissance operations and additional reconnaissance of the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the air, the paratroopers uncovered the enemy's defence system, main strong points and fireweapons.
'As a result of counter-battery fighting, the group's artillery suppressed the firing positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' artillery and destroyed the exposed control posts.
'After delivering precise strikes and suppressing fire weapons, the paratroopers launched an assault from several directions.
'UAV operators from the air accompanied the assault units, with the help of which the commanders controlled the battle.
'Subsequently, assault groups of the Airborne Forces, using the entire arsenal of small arms, stormed a stronghold in one of the buildings.
'At the same time, manyservicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces surrendered, including the commander of the evacuation group.
'Thanks to the data received, attacks were carried out on the reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.'
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
The conflict is still ongoing with public support from Europe and the United States fading and businesses reopening their ties with Russia.
Deserters have fled both countries for safer climbs in Europe and Asia.
