A train driver slowed down for a stray dog scampering along the tracks.

Footage shows the Manila Light Rail Transit System train steadily approaching the Gil Puyat Station as an exhausted white pooch ran on its front heading to the platform in the Philippines on June 1.

The driver maintained the speed until the canine was safely in the station before it was rescued by authorities.

Onlooker Sharmaine Facto said: ‘The driver did a great job, we admired him for caring for the stray animal. We didn't know how the dog climbed down the tracks.'

A spokesman from the train company Light Rail Manila Corporation reached out to Sharmaine and said: ‘The Dogg was safely rescued and temporarily stayed at the Central Station before it was turned over to authorities.

‘Based on our latest update, a concerned citizen expressed interest to adopt on June 2.'
