Previous Story Info: Pro-Palestinian activists began setting up tents on the sidewalks around LA City Hall this evening at 9:25. Approximately 20 tents were set up between City Hall and LAPD Headquarters. Around 50 protesters could be seen gathering on the sidewalk on the south side of City Hall. One tent could be seen with writing stating “From the river to the sea Palestine will be free”. LAPD has stated on X that they are monitoring the gathering and that the event is a non-permitted demonstration. The main gathering is located at the intersection of 1st and Spring.

Update: 12:30 AM LAPD moved in to remove the protesters and their tents. LAPD does not allow tents at City Hall due to the events in 2011 in relation to Occupy LA and the tents that were used in that event. Per LAPD PIO off camera, “The issue here are the tents, not the people”. Most of the tents were not occupied and were easily removed by LAPD personnel. No injuries reported at this time. Unknown if any arrest have been made at this time or how many.

Part 2 Update: 1:00 AM LAPD cleaning up debris and what remained of the encampments and tents left on the sidewalk by the protesters. The crowd was mostly dispersed by 1:40 AM. No arrests reported at the time of this writing.
