"Our bilateral and expanded talks have also focused on the war on Gaza. We called for an immediate ceasefire, the entry of aid in a way that meets the needs of the Palestinian people in Gaza, and the avoidance of attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause by displacement."
On his part, the Cypriot minister asserted that the expansion of military operations in Rafah is causing dire consequences, condemning the air attacks that claim the lives of civilians.
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): CONSTANTINOS KOMBOS, Cypriot Foreign Minister
"The expansion of the military operations into Rafah is creating potentially irreversible and catastrophic consequences and it needs to stop. Secondly, Cyprus strongly deplores the recent air strikes causing devastation and the deaths of so many innocent civilians, including children. Third, there is an urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and the release of the hostages. This is imperative."
