This is the moment a plane from Spain to Peru crashed into a pole near the runway.

The Iberia flight had taken off from Madrid bound for the Jorge Chavez International Airport Lima but an issue with runway lights caused it to be diverted to the Pisco airport in South Peru on June 2.

However, the Airbus A350 had refuelled then crashed into a pole damaging its wing - causing even longer delates for the passengers onboard.

Officials said nobody was injured following the collision at around 6:30 am local time.

A spokesman for Iberia, which is part of the IAG group, said: 'Iberia was forced to divert, cancel and reschedule flights due to a problem beyond its operational control due to the closure of Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima.

'As for the information that has been made known regarding the incident at Pisco International Airport, the process was carried out with the guidance of the ground handling operators. Hence, at all times, the captain followed the external instructions and indications of the airport staff.

'The incident did not cause any damage to passengers, airport staff or the aircraft crew, as the passengers had already disembarked after the flight.'
