Mexico: Claudia Sheinbaum becomes the first woman president in Mexican history

Claudia Sheinbaum was elected President after beating candidates Xochitl Galvez Ruiz and Alvarez Maynez. She will be the first woman in the history of Mexico to occupy the National Palace, and on October 1 she will succeed Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO). Although it is not yet official, the candidate of Morena was consecrated after his immediate rival granted him the triumph.
Minutes earlier, she had been proclaimed virtual president by the official Quick Count.
At 00.00 (Mexican time), the National Electoral Institute (INE) reported by national network that Sheinbaum had obtained more than 57% of the votes, a percentage of votes that mark a trend in the elections that Xochitl Galvez Ruiz and Alvarez Maynez can no longer discount.
