In the early hours of June 4, a dramatic fire broke out in the Zhonglv Shiguangli community in Hangzhou, southern China. The blaze started in a ninth-floor apartment and quickly spread, sending billows of thick smoke into the air and creating a dire situation. A man found himself trapped on the outer edge of his balcony, with his life hanging by a thread.

In this critical moment, the community demonstrated extraordinary bravery and solidarity. Liu Taotao, an eighth-floor neighbour and owner of a late-night snack shop, immediately rushed to his balcony, attempting to support the trapped man and help him to safety. Meanwhile, residents on the ground floor quickly organised, pulling together bed sheets and other items to form an improvised "safety net" to catch the man if he fell.

Despite their valiant efforts, the trapped man eventually lost his grip and fell. During his fall, he struck Wang Tianxuan, a resident involved in the ground-level rescue effort. Fortunately, both the fallen man and Wang Tianxuan were quickly attended to by emergency medical personnel and were declared out of danger.

Firefighters and police promptly arrived on the scene to extinguish the blaze and begin an investigation. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
