USA: Good Samaritan Stops Carjacker at Gunpoint in Ormond Beach
Ormond Beach, FL, USA - June 1, 2024
On June 1, 2024, at approximately 10:50 a.m., the Ormond Beach Police swiftly responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at the Exxon station located at 1622 N US Highway 1. The suspect, identified as Marvette Perry (36) of Jacksonville, Florida, was apprehended after attempting to forcibly take a vehicle occupied by an elderly couple.
Upon arrival, officers found Perry in a struggle with one of the vehicle's occupants, as the courageous individual held onto Perry’s leg, thwarting her escape. A quick-thinking Samaritan drew his firearm to ensure the safety of those involved, although he holstered it when no weapon was sighted. Standing by until officers arrived, the Samaritan's presence provided reassurance in the tense situation. Fortunately, the elderly couple remained unharmed.
Despite Perry's resistance, officers successfully secured her and took her into custody. She now faces multiple charges, including carjacking, burglary with assault, and resisting an officer.
