A 13ft-long python slithered into a musical instrument shop and hid under a pile of boxes.

The large serpent, believed to have come out of the sewers on the roadside, glided across the tiled floor of the establishment's entrance in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Thailand, on June 4.

CCTV footage shows the snake slows its long body under the chair and finds a hiding spot inside the shop amid shelves of guitars and keyboard.

It sparked panic inside the store when shopkeeper Totsaporn Malaitrong, 46, noticed it roaming inside and called the animal rescuers for help.

Totsaporn said: ‘I saw it was already slithering only 3ft away from me, so I threw something at it.'

He added the snake was scared away and concealed itself under boxes of supplies.

When the rescue team arrived, a volunteer poked under the boxes with a stick, and he found the python.

It was dragged outside the shop and measured along the road before being put in a sack and released into its habitat. No one was hurt, and the snake was safe.

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
