Spain: Abandoned Dog Rescued from Hot Vehicle in Madrid

A distressed galgo, abandoned and left to suffer in a vehicle under the scorching sun, was rescued on June 5 in the Spanish capital of Madrid. The animal, found in deplorable conditions, was swiftly transported by the Municipal Emergency Veterinary Service (SEVEMUR) for urgent care and rehabilitation.
Madrid Municipal Police officers responded to the distress call from passersby who spotted the animal trapped inside the parked vehicle. Upon arrival, they discovered the galgo in an emaciated state, struggling to breathe, with sunken eyes indicative of severe distress. With quick action, officers managed to unlock the car door, rescuing the suffering animal and placing it under their care.
The galgo was immediately transported to SEVEMUR, where it received urgent veterinary attention. Meanwhile, the owner of the vehicle is under investigation for suspected animal cruelty, facing potential charges. Once nursed back to health, the galgo is expected to be available for adoption by a caring and responsible family.
