Man injured by falling weight plate in gym in China
A weight plate slipped and fell, striking a man's foot at a gym in southern China.
The video was filmed in Shantou City in Guangdong Province on June 3. The tranquil atmosphere of the gym was shattered by a sudden scream. It transpired that a man was performing squats when the weight plate he was holding unexpectedly slipped and hit a nearby, unsuspecting individual.
The victim, in excruciating pain, immediately clutched his foot and collapsed to the ground, unable to stand. Gym staff and other gym-goers quickly rushed to the scene, assessing the situation and calling for an ambulance.
Preliminary diagnosis indicated a foot fracture, necessitating urgent medical treatment.
The gym has expressed deep regret over the incident and has pledged to fully support the injured man's recovery. Additionally, they have initiated a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident to enhance safety measures and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
The injured man is currently receiving treatment at the hospital, and his condition is stable. Relevant authorities have already begun an investigation into the specifics of the accident and the assignment of responsibility.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
