STORYLINE:

With the Dragon Boat Festival approaching, children at an international nursery in north China's Tianjin have celebrated the festival in their unique ways.

Children from various cultural backgrounds presented stories, nursery rhymes, dances, and fun programs filled with elements of the festival.

After their performances, with the guidance of teachers and chefs, the children prepared zongzi, a traditional Chinese dish enjoyed during the festival.

Educators believe that celebrating diverse cultures fosters an open and inclusive mindset.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): YANA LOGVINOVA, Teacher of Wellington College Bilingual Tianjin Nursery
"I'm so happy that we are here as a teacher, as an early years' teacher, I have this chance to teach this to our children. Because I know if you don't know your story, you don't know your history, you don't know yourself. And there are many third-culture children. I'm so happy that we are bringing this identity back to them, and then they know their story, they know their history, and they know themselves."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): YANG YANG, Principal of Wellington College Tianjin
"We hope to immerse the children in a subtle and nurturing education to experience Chinese culture. Of course, we also respect the cultures of other countries. Here, we celebrate many festivals from different nations and invite teachers from various countries to introduce their traditional cultures. We believe that in such a cultural environment, they can develop a more open and inclusive mindset. Nationalities make up the world, and they will certainly gain strong cultural confidence (through this kind of learning)."
