Elderly woman narrowly avoids injuries as high-pressure cooker explodes in China
An elderly woman narrowly avoided injuries as a high-pressure cooker exploded in southern China.
Terrifying CCTV footage filmed in Jieyang City in Guangdong Province on June 5, shows a high-pressure cooker suddenly exploding when an elderly woman was cooking zongzi, a sticky rice dumpling in the kitchen.
The kitchen was in a cloud of smoke and the stove was then shattered as well with the range hood crashing to the floor.
Fortunately, the elderly person, although shaken, escaped without injuries.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the explosion may have been caused by a blocked pressure release valve or excessive food inside the cooker, leading to dangerously high pressure.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
