France: The Eiffel Tower sports the Olympic rings 50 days before the Paris 2024 Games
Paris, France - June 8, 2024
The impressive structure, measuring 29 by 13 metres and built from recycled steel, was installed on the south face of the iconic Eiffel Tower. The installation, which involved some 30 workers and four cranes, highlights the importance of the Parisian landmark to the upcoming Olympic Games.
The Eiffel Tower will not only be a visual symbol of the Games, but also a key venue for the competitions. Beach volleyball events will take place at the foot of the "Iron Lady", making it the epicentre of Olympic excitement.
In addition, pieces of steel taken from the Eiffel Tower have been reused to form part of the Paris 2024 medals, incorporating a piece of Parisian history into the prizes that will be awarded to the winning athletes.
The Paris Olympics will be held from 26 July to 11 August, and the city is preparing to welcome athletes and visitors from around the world to an event that promises to be memorable for both its organisation and its iconic setting.
