This is the rare moment a mother Siberian tiger decides to take a break at the brink of a cliff before curiously inspecting a camera trap.

The footage showed the striped feline mother moving closer to the camera trap to take a better look as her cubs walked among the nearby trees.

Experts from 'Land of the Leopard', considered the 'most thickly cat-populated' specially protected natural area (SPNA) in Russia, said in a statement: 'One, two, three striped inspectors were caught by the camera trap of the 'Land of the Leopard'.

'Amur tigers not only honoured us with their presence, guarding their territory but also showed stripes from different sides and plans.

'The staff of the Land of the Leopard science department identify each tiger by their distinct stripe patterns.

'After all, their shape and location on the fur are unique, like a human fingerprint.

'So the individual 'bar code' on the sides of tigers is not just an excellent disguise, but an identity identifier.

'By the way, we noticed how the third tiger looked down from the cliff, left, and returned again. What do you think attracted the tiger so much?'

The Siberian tiger, also known as the Amur, is native to the Russian Far East, Northeast China, and possibly North Korea

The species is listed as 'Endangered' on IUCN's Red List of Threatened Species.
