Huge piece of wood flies from truck and crashes into car behind
A huge piece of wood flew from a truck and crashed into car on the other lane.
Dashcam footage shows the large 6ft by 5ft panel falling off the back of a pickup truck on the other side of the median in Samut Prakan province, Thailand, on June 7.
It bounced off the road and hurtled towards the windscreen of another car on the opposite side of traffic, shattering the glass.
The wood did not go through the car but left damage marks before the driver slowed down to the side of the motorway and checked the vehicle.
Driver Wor Worachat said: 'The damage cost around 50,000 baht (1,067.31 GBP) to repair. Aside from the windscreen, my side mirror and the bonnet had dents as well.'
Wor filed a report to the police but could not yet track the driver as the security camera could not capture the license plate clearly.
He said: ‘I am seeking help from the governor of the Expressway Authority of Thailand. I am still waiting for the result.'
No one was hurt in the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.
Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
