Chinese father and son build huge dragon boat with 250 bottles
This is the impressive moment a Chinese father and son built a huge dragon boat using 250 bottles.
The red three-seater watercraft measured 75 centimeters wide, and 3.5 meters long was created by the pair for the upcoming festival in Lishui, Zhejiang, China, on June 5.
Footage shows the red plastic boat adorned with cling wrap to secure the drinking bottles.
They have also made a dragon sculpture from the bottles on its front with googly eyes.
Ms Wu, the grandmother of the boy, said: 'The Dragon Boat Festival is approaching, and my grandson's kindergarten teacher suggested making a dragon boat with bamboo leaves.'
The boy's father proposed that since the boy was about to graduate, they should make a large dragon boat as a keepsake.
Since Ms Wu's family runs a grocery, some of the bottles used for the boat were from their shop, while others were sourced from elsewhere.
The Dragon Boat Festival is an annual event in China. Locals believe that dragons give them power to control rivers and rainfall.
Thus, carving the mythic creature became part of the tradition to appease the river dragons and prevent a drought season.
