A motorist's dashcam captured the tense moment two schoolgirls were almost hit by an oncoming car as they ran across a road in Cardiff, Wales, on June 11.

The footage shows a large truck stationary in one lane, obscuring the view of oncoming traffic and any pedestrians crossing.

Two girls in school uniform then make a risky dash across the road. One of the girls is seen trying to pull her friend back.

The pair fortunately managed to stop themselves before running into an oncoming car.

"The lorry blocks the view of a crossing but vehicles still have a green light. The two school girls decide to cross by running out onto the road just as another vehicle is approaching in the other lane," said the filmer.
