A beached sea turtle was carried back into the ocean by rescuers in Florida.

The marine creature was found stranded between large coquina rocks, unable to waddle back into the water after being pushed by waves in Marineland, Flagler County on June 10.

It was found by beachgoers and the local authorities went to the scene helping them handle the shelled animal.

Footage shows Flagler County Sheriff's Office Deputy Prather and officers from the fire rescue team lifting the turtle off the rocky area and taking it back to the shoreline, where it swam back into the sea.

Many of Florida's beaches are critically important nesting grounds for endangered and threatened sea turtle species. Many coastal counties and municipalities have sea turtle monitoring programs where trained volunteers survey beaches during nesting season, which happens mainly between May to October, to locate and mark new nests.
