Police officer jumps from a height of 40 meters to save a woman who was drowning in the river in Peru. She was reportedly sitting on the edge of a bridge when she fell.

This is the moment a brave police officer jumps 130 feet off a bridge to save a drowning woman.

Third Warrant Officer Richard Ojanama Sangama of the Peruvian police has been praised by the authorities for his heroic actions after he jumped off the bridge over the Nanay River, in the country's Loreto region.

The first piece of footage shows him jumping off the bridge and plummeting towards the water before hitting it with a loud crack.
Not only does he survive jumping off the bridge, but he is also able to help the drowning 40-year-old woman, who has not been named, back to dry land.

The second piece of footage shows the police officer returning to dry land with the woman and walking away as if nothing had happened as locals applaud him for his bravery.

Local media first reported that the woman had been sitting on the edge of the bridge when she fell in, but later reports suggest that she may have jumped intentionally.
