A dramatic rescue unfolded on a California beach as a stranded kite surfer ingeniously used rocks to spell out the word "HELP," ultimately leading to his swift rescue on June 9, officials confirmed.

The stranded individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, found himself in a precarious situation on a beach south of Davenport Landing. Spotting the distress signal made of rocks, a private helicopter promptly alerted authorities, initiating the rescue operation.

Video footage shared on social media by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection's San Mateo and Santa Cruz unit depicted the challenging terrain surrounding the beach, nestled at the base of a steep cliff.

In a daring maneuver, a CAL Fire helicopter dispatched a first responder down to the stranded kite surfer. After ensuring the individual's safety by securing him, both were hoisted above the cliff to safety.
