UK: Officers Rescue Over 90 Residents from Burning Building in Hounslow

Four police officers who displayed remarkable courage in rescuing nearly 100 residents from a burning block of flats have been nominated for the prestigious Police Federation’s national Police Bravery Awards 2024.
PC Andrew Thompson and PC Jordan Watson were conducting a routine mobile patrol in Hounslow on September 7, 2023, when they spotted a raging fire engulfing the top floor of a residential building. Swiftly, PC Watson called for backup, and within moments, PCs George Ewart and Molly Lloyd rushed to the scene.
With no regard for their own safety, the quartet dashed into the inferno to evacuate trapped residents. Demonstrating commendable professionalism, they methodically guided occupants to safety, even as flames threatened to engulf the structure.
Their meticulous efforts included compiling a record of unresponsive flats and identifying the origin of the fire to assist arriving fire brigade units. Remarkably, they ensured the evacuation of over 90 residents before exiting themselves under the orders of the fire brigade.
Moreover, they extended their support beyond evacuation, assessing residents for medical needs and coordinating with partner agencies to provide assistance.
