Giant panda Fu Bao met the public for the first time on Wednesday since returning to southwest China's Sichuan Province.
Fu Bao is the first giant panda born in the Republic of Korea (ROK).
It returned to China in early April this year.
Fu Bao, meaning "lucky treasure" in English, is the first cub of giant pandas Ai Bao and Le Bao, who were sent to the ROK from China in 2016 on a 15-year lease.
SOUNDBITE (Chinese): XU XIANG, Fu Bao's breeder
"He really adapts quite quickly. We have made preparations for it beforehand. Getting him to adapt means letting him know that there are many brothers and sisters in the panda community. Before, he only knew his parents, so we wanted him to realize that he actually has many companions. When he first came back, he seemed to avoid us when we called him, but after about 7 to 10 days, he basically adapted to the conditions and also got used to the Sichuan dialect. We have a feeding team and nutritionists who adjust the amount of feed according to his different stages. Now his routine has become quite regular, and it has been the case since the quarantine period. He eats bamboos in the morning, then moves around and plays, and he might sleep in the afternoon. Besides, as summer gradually arrives and the weather gets hot, he would look for cool places to sleep in the afternoon. Then, when it's feeding time, he might check to see if it's time to eat."
