China's first hydrogen refueling station for heavy-load trains starts commercial operation

(Voice_over)

China's first refueling station for hydrogen heavy-load trains began operations recently in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The Batuta station services heavy-duty hydrogen-powered shunting locomotives and zero-emission electric catenary maintenance vehicles.

The station is equipped with a massive all-weather robotic arm that can fill a hydrogen-powered locomotive with a range of 800 kilometers in about 30 minutes.

Operated by China's energy giant CHN Energy Investment Group, the station is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 800 tons per year.
