STORYLINE:
Zambia and Kenya have agreed to work together to promote tourism in the two countries, an industry body said on Tuesday.
The decision came after a joint technical committee meeting between the Tourism Council of Zambia and the Kenya Tourism Federation on June 3-6.
Yousuf Zumla, chairman of the Tourism Council of Zambia, told journalists during a press briefing that the cooperation, which has resulted in a mutually beneficial implementation plan, aims to benefit tourism industry stakeholders in both countries in various aspects such as marketing, networking, knowledge sharing, and online interactions.
The decision is part of the government's broader move to grow the tourism sector, which has been on a positive trajectory, especially since the introduction of the visa waiver initiative for some selected countries last year, he said.

"Though the strategic implementation of the visa waiver program will not only attract more international visitors, but also facilitate ease of travel, promote cultural exchange and enhance economic opportunities for local communities. By leveraging visa waivers to welcome tourists from diverse backgrounds and nations, we contribute to the enrichment of Zambia's tourism landscape."
